MM6/780 – Issues in Contemporary Mission

The aim of this course is to address a range of issues and challenges that are currently being encountered in the practice of Christian mission. These will be explored utilizing tools of missiological enquiry and responses will be developed and evaluated. In addition to drawing on the resources of missiological research there will be opportunities to engage with current mission practitioners. Topics might include some of: Insider Movements, Islam in the West, Care of Mission Personnel, Business As Mission, Mission Partnerships, Intercultural Teams, Short Term Missions, Mission and Development, Mission and Globalization, the Local Church and Mission, Western Missions in the Post-­‐colonial Era, etc.

Prerequisite: 30 credit credits in Bible & Theology OR Permission of Dean of Studies.
