Announcement – New Principal Nomination for Carey
The Board of Carey Baptist College (along with the support of Assembly Council & NZBMS Council) are pleased to announce that Dr John Tucker will shortly be nominated to the Baptist Churches of NZ to be the next Principal of Carey.
John is a former lawyer, pastor and current lecturer in homiletics and church history at Carey; he is also the Director of Carey’s School of Preaching. John is a strong supporter of the Baptist ethos in New Zealand and has served in various leadership roles. John and his family are members of, and serve, at Windsor Park Baptist Church.
We look forward to the continued strength of Carey as it continues its long history of serving the church by forming leaders for ministry and mission.
“Carey,” John says, “is an amazing place. It has a rich culture rooted in love for Jesus, the scriptures, the gospel, the church, and mission. It has an integrative approach to theological education that weaves together rigorous scholarship, community, and ministry. And it has an incredibly gifted and committed team. It’s been a pleasure to be part of the team over the last several years, and it will be a privilege to serve the team as principal.”
John believes that Carey is in very good heart. “Under Charles’ stewardship,” he says, “a number of really important strategic initiatives have been planted, and I’m really looking forward to nurturing these and discovering what else Jesus has in store for Carey as we continue to serve the church by training leaders for participation in the mission of God.”
