Remembering Martyn Norrie, a good friend, mentor, leader, teacher and former Board member of Carey, who passed away on Tuesday 30 May 2023.

Martyn served on the Carey Board for nearly 20 years. His wise counsel and ideas played an integral part in the planning and strategy of the college. He will be especially remembered by Carey’s former principals, Paul Windsor and Charles Hewlett, who he supported and mentored. Students in his Carey leadership class benefitted from his vast experience in business and the charity sector, with his wider service on various Christian Boards recognised with a Queen’s Service Medal in 2019.

‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
