Bio
Luke provides leadership for the college, and its Tiriti hikoi. He guides Carey’s Ministry Training Team as it seeks to develop practices of leadership formation that embrace Kaupapa Māori and embody the vision of Te Tiriti. He nurtures Carey’s community life and seeks to develop and identify emerging Māori leaders in need of theological formation and ministry training.
Luke brings 20 years in pastoral ministry within local Baptist Churches and an active contributor in Baptist Māori Ministries, Manatū Iriiri Māori, for over 30 years.
“Carey is an inspirational space that engages in the building of relationships – whakawhanaungatanga – as its approach to theological training and research. The commitment to te Tiriti Hikoi is an authentic and robust expression of our commitment to the gospel, a journey that weaves people and our history in this land together. Increasingly, this is transforming our training, our scholarship, and the ministries of our graduates in the context of Aotearoa/New Zealand.”
